This is called Gangajal, or water of the transcendental river Ganga. You can drink it and regularly putting three drops in your head with much respect. You can also add fresh clear water so that you’ll always have Gangajal in you house. When clean water is mixed with water from Ganga or Yamuna or any sacred river or lake, become one with it.
About Deva Prayaga, it is a sacred town on the Himalayas. Here the rivers Bhagirathi and Alakananda converge and from there the river is called Ganga. However The Bhagirathi and the Alakananda come from the same Ganga Devi.
