Vidura’s wife

posted in: Area2, English 0

In the Mahabharata, Vidura, who was known for his wisdom and righteousness, was married to a woman named Sulabha (also known as Shvapaki and Vatavyadhi). Sulabha was the daughter of King Shvetaki and the sister of Shakuni. Shakuni, known for his cunning and manipulative nature, played a significant role in the events leading up to the Kurukshetra War.

Vidura, despite being born to a maidservant, was respected for his intelligence and moral character. His wife Sulabha is not as prominent a character in the Mahabharata as Vidura himself, and her role is not as extensively described in the epic. The primary focus on Vidura is due to his involvement in advising the Kuru kings and his pivotal role in guiding them towards righteousness.
