The Devas Incarnate On Earth
Seeing all this from the heights of the heavenly planets, Brahma gathered all the Devas and said to them:
“Vishnu wants to help us. For this purpose he has already descended to Earth, and you must help him in his mission. Descend into the world of men and also incarnate yourselves in different forms. From the belly of the Apsaras, produce a race of Vanaras that are fast as the wind and invincible in war, and that are extremely strong and intelligent. Do so, therefore, without delay, for the good of the population of the universe.”
Brahma set the example: he was the first and fathered Jambavan, the king of bears, born from a yawn. Indra produced Vali, who was as tall as a mountain; Vivasvan procreated Sugriva, Brihaspati procreated the intelligent Taraka, and Kuvera begat Gandhamadana. Nala was born from Visvakarma and Nila from Agni. From the two Asvini Kumaras, Mahinda and Dvivida; from Varuna, Sushena; and from Paijanya, Sarava. Vayu, the Deva of the wind, begat the great devotee Hanuman. All the great Devas and celestial sages procreated powerful monkeys and bears, with bodies as hard as diamonds and most valiant in war, which quickly began to descend to Earth.
When the Asvamedha sacrifice was over, everyone prepared to return to their respective towns and cities. The pure Risyasringa also left Ayodhya, showered with honors and riches.
