 Hanuman’s Return

Raising very high waves and almost causing a storm, Hanuman crossed the ocean again.

After greeting and thanking Mainaka, he saw the Mahendra mountain. He screamed and roared with joy, as if he couldn’t control his enthusiasm. He wanted to encourage and anticipate his joy to the companions who were waiting for him. Jambavan was the first to hear him.

“Listen! These are Hanuman’s cries of joy. Hear what fervor his voice expresses, and what happiness! Maybe he found her. Courage, friends, perhaps he brings good news.”

After landing on the mountain, Hanuman was surrounded by the cheering Vanaras who asked him what had happened. Hanuman told everything in detail. But, Prince Angada wanted to hear the whole story again and asked him to retell it in more detail.

“Valiant friend,” Angada said. “Retell us the story of your successes in Lanka, and give us more details. I am very curious to hear this glorious story.”

Everyone sat down and listened to the story again, with all the details. By the end of the narrative, Angada was excited.

“But, why wait?” he said standing up and bulging his muscles. “Why go back to Kiskindha and move all our armies while Sita continues to suffer? We can go to Lanka, destroy Ravana with all his evil race, and bring Sita back to Rama. Why not?”

Someone screamed enthusiastically. Many were of the opinion to move immediately and attack the enemies. But the sage Jambavan cooled their impulsiveness and advised them to return to Kiskindha. At the end, even Angada recognized that this was the best thing that could be done and they left.
