Sugriva Is Crowned King
Sugriva was crowned king of Kiskhindha, and Angada, Vali’s son, prince regent.
After the ceremonies, the two invited Rama to visit the city, but he declined the invitation.
“Dear friends, I am sorry I cannot accept your invitation, but the promise made to my father prevents me from visiting any city before the end of the fourteen years. I, therefore, prefer to live in some cave nearby. The monsoon season is approaching. When it is over, we will start the search for Sita, as you promised me.”
Rama and Laksmana found a cave suited to their needs. Sugriva entered the city and gave himself mad joy to celebrate the conquered throne. After so many sacrifices he wanted to enjoy the pleasures of life and did not notice the inexorable passage of time.
