Low Class Brahmanas

In the past, Mahavidya Prabhu has made the point that if anyone turns a blind eye to abuse of our children, they are not acting in ways expected of a devotee of The Lord. This point is nicely explained by Srila Visvanatha Cakravati Thakur in connection with the wives of the brahmanas in Mathura, when they witnessed what they understood to be an abominable act: that Kamsa had sent the huge wrestlers to fight with the small delicate Boys, Krishna and Balarama. They all condemned the onlookers for not objecting to such a cruel act by Kamsa. Some were silent because of their false loyalty to Kamsa, and what he was giving them.

The point the Thakur makes is that someone with knowledge of irreligious acts who chooses to ignore or look the other way, and continues relationships with the sinful without speaking out, incur sin themselves.

How can we understand Lord Krishna or understand what He wants of us if our leaders are reaping the sinful reactions of ignoring the abuse of the vulnerable? Indeed, how can one consider themselves brahmanas?

Actually Kamsa also had his brahmana advisors, but they are described by the Thakur as being low class.

Perhaps our GBC who dream about being successors to Srila Prabhupada and may think, let’s just chant Hare Krishna and all problems will be solved, could look at the example set by Lord Krishna. He was prepared to leave His loving devotees in Vrajabhumi and carry out His business in Mathura as well as speak Bhagavad-gita and deal with establishing the Pandavas as rulers of the world.
