Vasudeva and Vaasudeva
Vasudeva and Vaasudeva (with the double first “a”) are two different persons.
The first (with the first “a” short) is Krishna’s father, the second (with the first “a” double) is Krishna. A double “a” means “the son of”.
Vasudeva is atma, Vaasudeva is supreme atma.
The word vasu means rich y deva means divine. Therefore Vasudeva means “the richest”. Krishna is Bhagavan, he who has all opulences. One of these opulences is wealth. Nobody is as rich a Krishna. This is why one of His names is Vasudeva.
Vasudeva, Krishna’s father, was not the Supreme Lord. He only had one of His names.
