Did you know that George Harrison went to Vrndavana India and first experienced Hare Krishna kirtan there in early September 1966, two months after ISKCON was created by Srila Prabhupada on 13th July 1966
This makes George Harrison the first follower of Srila Prabhupada to go to Vrndavana. Of course at this stage he never new Srila Prabhupada.
In fact not only did he know about Krishna before he meet Prabhupada but also new about the Hare Krishna mantra before Prabhupada even came to the West that was first introduced in America in 1963 by Alan Ginsberg and become popular among the beat generation in 1964 and the new hippie generation in 1965.
Later in 1966 Alan Ginsberg met Prabhupada and Prabhupada refined Ginsberg’s chanting of Hare Krishna, after all he was a pure devotee of Krishna and therefore showed him how to properly chant Hare Krishna.
