The Hindu god Vishnu (Sanskrit) is the protector and preserver of the universe, usually depicted as four-armed and blue-skinned. By some Hindus he is regarded as the supreme god.
There are many meanings of his other names, primarily he is referred to as the
• One who bestows safety (Abhayaprada)
• Protector of the Earth (Poovaragahava)
• One who destroys fear (Abhima)
• Imperishable (Achuta, not to be confused with Achooth (untouchable))
• The one who don’t need any support but supports everyone (Adhrit)
• Uncontrolled, Unrestrained (Adhrta)
• Lord of the Universe (Bhuvanesh)
• The Supreme Soul (Purushottam)
• Refuge of Man (Narayan)
• Knowledgeable Person, Celebrated, Famous, One whose Fame is Heard All over, Lord Vishnu, Renowned (Vishrut)
• Vishvak – Commander of Lord Vishnu, A sage, All pervading
• Yajurva – One of the Four Vedas
