Sugriva, with the big wreath around his neck, again called his powerful brother to fight. The two mighty warriors raised huge clouds of dust and blood splattered all around. But then, Rama could already tell who was who. He placed the arrow again on his bow and this time he let it go. Vali was pierced in the chest and fell to the ground, weak, agonizing.<\/span><\/p>\n Slowly, Rama and Laksmana walked to where the brave warrior lay and greeted him. In the city, the news spread like fire in a haystack and thousands came to pay their last respects to the dying king.<\/span><\/p>\n “Only in this unfair way Vali could be killed,” someone whispered. “Shame and dishonor to those who devised such a vile plan.”<\/span><\/p>\n Vali opened his eyes and looked at Rama’s beautiful and sweet ones.<\/span><\/p>\n “I know you… I know who you are… your fame is clear and spotless… I have always known that you were a prince full of virtue… how could you hit an opponent like me… treacherously?”<\/span><\/p>\n Rama did not answer. And the valiant Vanara, breathing with difficulty, resumed speaking:<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cDespite what you have done, I have faith in you. I entrust to you my wife… Tara… and my son Angada… protect them, take care of them… after my death.”<\/span><\/p>\n Thus the great Vali died, mourned by all righteous men.
