\u201cDasaratha, I was sent by the Devas to fulfill your great desire and need. Brahma himself has commissioned me to give you this divine juice called payasa. Listen to me: make your wives drink and they will conceive incarnations of Vishnu. “<\/span><\/p>\n

Dasaratha got up and took the vessel from the hands of the envoy of the Devas, who immediately disappeared. He handed it to his first wife, Kausalya, and told her to drink half of it. Then he gave it to his second wife, Sumitra, and asked her to drink half of the rest. What was left, he handed it to his third wife, asking her to do the same, that is, to drink half of what was left. And with the last half he made Sumitra drink again. This was the criterion by which Dasaratha distributed the divine juice given to him by the heavenly messenger.<\/span><\/p>\n

Clear signs of pregnancy were instantly visible in the queens: Narayana and Vishnu had already entered their bodies.<\/span><\/p>\n
