Thankfully, the monarch blessed his son to die only when he wanted to.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Thus, Shantanu married Satyavati.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Two children were born from them: the first was called Citrangada and the second Vicitravirya.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">At the right moment, the inexorable time stripped the great and virtuous king Shantanu of everything, and he died when Citrangada was still too young to rule. Bhishma assumed the leadership of the state until his brother reached the age to rule.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">As soon as Citrangada came of age, he ascended the throne, but did not rule for long.
