These poems exert a great fascination and possess an ever new freshness, so wonderful that they transcend the limitations imposed by time and space, and by cultural, religious and social differences as well. The Ramayana is read in India as our Bible is read in the West. Who doesn&#8217;t know the Bible? Maybe not everyone would have read it, but I don&#8217;t think you will find someone who has never heard of it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">\u00a0Everybody in India knows the Ramayana, and everyone loves Rama, Sita, Hanuman, and Laksmana. In the same extent, everyone detests Ravana, Indrajit, and even Manthara, who is a symbol of envy and perfidy.
