Glory to Sita&#8217;s husband! Glory to Srivasa and all devotees!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Mahaprabhu extended His lotus hand and then raised Hari Dasa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">He said: Listen to My words, Hari Dasa. Now explain namabhasa<a href=\"#_ftn1\" name=\"_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a> clearly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">He who understands namabhasa will attain Suddha-nama. Through the attributes of the Holy Name, the Jiva can be easily liberated.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc159506210\"><\/a><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Namabhasa &#8211; Ignorance and anarthas are like clouds and fog<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Namabhasa\u2014megha kujjhatika-rupa ajnana o anartha<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">The Holy Name, like the sun, destroys the darkness of Maya. However, again and again, clouds and fog cover the sun of the Holy Name<a href=\"#_ftn2\" name=\"_ftnref2\">[2]<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">All the various types of ignorance and anarthas of the Jivas are like thick clouds and fog.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">When the sun of Krishna-nama ascends into the sky of the heart, once again fog and clouds cover it.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc159506211\"><\/a><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">The fog of ignorance creates confusion about spiritual reality<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Ajnana kujjhatika, svarupa bhrama<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">When one does not know the cit-svarupa<a href=\"#_ftn3\" name=\"_ftnref3\">[3]<\/a> of the Holy Name, the fog of ignorance ushers in darkness.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">One who does not know Krishna as Sarvesvara<a href=\"#_ftn4\" name=\"_ftnref4\">[4]<\/a> worships many Devas on the path of karma<a href=\"#_ftn5\" name=\"_ftnref5\">[5]<\/a> and becomes confused.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">The Jiva who has no knowledge of his cit-svarupa<a href=\"#_ftn6\" name=\"_ftnref6\">[6]<\/a> accepts the weak refuge of Maya and always remains in ignorance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Then Hari Dasa said: Today I am very fortunate. Lord Caitanya will hear subjects about the Holy Name from my mouth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Krishna and the Jiva are master and servant. Maya is characterized by physical matter. When one doesn&#8217;t know, he lives in the shadow of ignorance.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc159506212\"><\/a><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">The clouds of Anarthas &#8211; Thirst for material things, weakness of heart and offenses<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Megha-anartha \u2013 asat-trsna, hrdaya-daurbalya, aparadha<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Thirst for material things<a href=\"#_ftn7\" name=\"_ftnref7\">[7]<\/a>, weakness of heart<a href=\"#_ftn8\" name=\"_ftnref8\">[8]<\/a> and offenses<a href=\"#_ftn9\" name=\"_ftnref9\">[9]<\/a>, these anarthas are like clouds that create obstacles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Namabhasa is present when the sun rays of the Holy Name are covered. However, pure Krishna-nama, which is perfect in itself, is always uncovered.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc159506213\"><\/a><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">End of Namabhasa<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Namabhasera avadhi<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">As long as he is unaware of sambandha-tattva<a href=\"#_ftn10\" name=\"_ftnref10\">[10]<\/a>, the Jiva takes refuge in namabhasa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">If a sadhaka takes shelter of a Sadguru<a href=\"#_ftn11\" name=\"_ftnref11\">[11]<\/a> and becomes expert in bhajana, the clouds and fog move away.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\"><a href=\"#_ftnref1\" name=\"_ftn1\">[1]<\/a> Namabhasa is a semblance of the Holy Name. This will be explained in detail in the next verses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\"><a href=\"#_ftnref2\" name=\"_ftn2\">[2]<\/a> No cloud is capable of covering the sun. The clouds cover us and so we cannot see the sun.
