In the Hindu epic Mahabharata<\/a><\/i>, Vrishasena<\/b> (Sanskrit<\/a>: \u0935\u0943\u0937\u0938\u0947\u0928<\/span>, romanized<\/a>:\u00a0<\/small>V\u1e5b\u1e63asena<\/i><\/span>) was the eldest son of the warrior Karna<\/a> and his wife.[1]<\/a><\/sup> Along with his father, he fought in the Kurukshetra war<\/a> from the side of the Kauravas<\/a> and faced many prominent warriors like Upapandavas, Drupada<\/a>, Dhrishtadyumna<\/a>, Nakula<\/a>, Sahadeva<\/a>, Virata<\/a> and many more. Kurukshetra War<\/span><\/h2>\n

During the Kurukshetra war, Karna did not take part for the first ten days due to the dispute he had with Bhishma<\/a>. After Bhishma’s fall on the 10th day of the war, Karna<\/a>and his sons, including Vrishasena, joined the war on the 11th day and fought against the Pandavas<\/a>.<\/p>\n

11th day<\/span><\/h3>\n

On the 11th day of the war, Vrishasena overwhelmed Satanika<\/a>, the son of Nakula<\/a> in a single combat, and afterwards fought against the other Upapandavas<\/a> and defeated them all.Then he fought against Sahadeva<\/a> where he broke his bow and made him unconscious. Finally Satyaki<\/a> rescued Sahadeva. [3]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n

12th day<\/span><\/h3>\n

On 12th day of war he attacked the Matsya forces of Pandava army and created havoc by defeating King Virata<\/a> and wounds him badly. Seeing this Abhimanyu<\/a> came in aid of Virata and a fierce duel took place between Vrishasena and Abhimanyu.Vrishasena pierced Abhimanyu’s chest and his thighs with couple of arrows but finally Abhimanyu managed to break his bow and defeated him.<\/p>\n

14th day<\/span><\/h3>\n

On the night of the 14th day, Vrishasena engaged in a single combat against Drupada<\/a>, the King of Panchala<\/a>, and defeated him.[4]<\/a><\/sup>Following, Drupada’s defeat, he defeated Drupada’s son Dhrishtadyumna<\/a> commander in chief of Pandava army and made Drupada and Dhrishtadyumna to retreat.<\/p>\n

17th day<\/span><\/h3>\n

On the 17th day of the war, Vrishasena engaged in a single combat against Nakula<\/a> and destroyed his chariot.[5]<\/a><\/sup> After that, Nakula mounted on Bhima<\/a>‘s chariot, but Vrishasena continued to strike both of them, He broke Bhima’s bow and pierced Bhima’s chest with numerous sharp arrows. Then Bhima asked Arjuna to kill Vrishasena, and after a fierce battle, Arjuna killed him.[6]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n
