OBSERVING \u0100RATI AND CELEBRATIONS OF THE LORD
\nIn the Skanda Pur\u0101\u1e47a there is the following description of the result of seeing \u0101rati (worship) of the Deity:
\n\u201cIf someone sees the face of the Lord while \u0101rati is going on, he can be relieved of all sinful reactions coming from many, many thousands and millions of years past. He is even excused from the killing of a br\u0101hma\u1e47a or similar prohibited activities.\u201d
\nAs we have already explained, there are different ceremonies to be observed, such as the birthday of K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a, the birthday of Lord R\u0101macandra, the birthday of some prominent Vai\u1e63\u1e47avas, the ceremony of Jhulana-y\u0101tr\u0101 with the Lord sitting on a swing, and Dola-y\u0101tr\u0101 (the Lord\u2019s activities in the month of March). In all festivals the Lord is seated on a car, and the car moves through different streets of the city so that people may take advantage of visiting the Lord. In the Bhavi\u1e63ya Pur\u0101\u1e47a it is said,
\n\u201cIn such a ceremony, if even a ca\u1e47\u1e0d\u0101la [dog-eater], simply out of curiosity, sees the Lord on the cart, he becomes counted as one of the associates of Vi\u1e63\u1e47u.\u201d<\/p>\n
In the Agni Pur\u0101\u1e47a it is stated,
\n\u201cAny person who in gladness sees the worship of the Deity in the temple will obtain the results of kriy\u0101-yoga, which are described in the Pa\u00f1car\u0101tra scripture.\u201d
\nKriy\u0101-yoga is a system of practice much like practical devotional service, but it is especially meant for the mystic yog\u012bs.
