But Mah\u0101r\u0101ja Par\u012bk\u1e63it was saved by the Supreme Lord.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15886\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/12\/2\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 2:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>How was the great emperor Par\u012bk\u1e63it, who was a highly intelligent and great devotee, born in that womb? How did his death take place, and what did he achieve after his death?<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15891\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/12\/3\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 3:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>We all respectfully want to hear about him [Mah\u0101r\u0101ja Par\u012bk\u1e63it] to whom \u015aukadeva Gosv\u0101m\u012b imparted transcendental knowledge. Please speak on this matter.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15896\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/12\/4\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 4:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>\u015ar\u012b S\u016bta Gosv\u0101m\u012b said: Emperor Yudhi\u1e63\u1e6dhira administered generously to everyone during his reign. He was exactly like his father. He had no personal ambition and was freed from all sorts of sense gratification because of his continuous service unto the lotus feet of the Lord \u015ar\u012b K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15901\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/12\/5\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 5:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>News even reached the celestial planets about Mah\u0101r\u0101ja Yudhi\u1e63\u1e6dhira\u2019s worldly possessions, the sacrifices by which he would attain a better destination, his queen, his stalwart brothers, his extensive land, his sovereignty over the planet earth, his fame, etc.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15906\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/12\/6\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 6:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>O br\u0101hma\u1e47as, the opulence of the King was so enchanting that the denizens of heaven aspired for it. But because he was absorbed in the service of the Lord, nothing could satisfy him except the Lord\u2019s service.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15912\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/12\/7\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 7:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>O son of Bh\u1e5bgu [\u015aaunaka], when the child Par\u012bk\u1e63it, the great fighter, was in the womb of his mother, Uttar\u0101, and was suffering from the burning heat of the brahm\u0101stra [thrown by A\u015bvatth\u0101m\u0101], he could observe the Supreme Lord coming to him.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15917\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/12\/8\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 8:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>He [the Lord] was only thumb high, but He was all transcendental. He had a very beautiful, blackish, infallible body, and He wore a dress of lightning yellow and a helmet of blazing gold. Thus He was seen by the child.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15921\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/12\/9\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 9:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>The Lord was enriched with four hands, earrings of molten gold and eyes blood red with fury. As He loitered about, His club constantly encircled Him like a shooting star.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15926\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/12\/10\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 10:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>The Lord was thus engaged in vanquishing the radiation of the brahm\u0101stra, just as the sun evaporates a drop of dew. He was observed by the child, who thought about who He was.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15930\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/12\/11\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 11:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>While thus being observed by the child, the Supreme Lord Personality of Godhead, the Supersoul of everyone and the protector of the righteous, who stretches in all directions and who is unlimited by time and space, disappeared at once.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15935\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/12\/12\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 12:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>Thereupon, when all the good signs of the zodiac gradually evolved, the heir apparent of P\u0101\u1e47\u1e0du, who would be exactly like him in prowess, took birth.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15940\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/12\/13\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 13:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>King Yudhi\u1e63\u1e6dhira, who was very satisfied with the birth of Mah\u0101r\u0101ja Par\u012bk\u1e63it, had the purificatory process of birth performed. Learned br\u0101hma\u1e47as, headed by Dhaumya and K\u1e5bpa, recited auspicious hymns.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15947\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/12\/14\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 14:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>Upon the birth of a son, the King, who knew how, where and when charity should be given, gave gold, land, villages, elephants, horses and good food grains to the br\u0101hma\u1e47as.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15954\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/12\/15\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 15:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>The learned br\u0101hma\u1e47as, who were very satisfied with the charities of the King, addressed him as the chief amongst the P\u016brus and informed him that his son was certainly in the line of descent from the P\u016brus.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15958\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/12\/16\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 16:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>The br\u0101hma\u1e47as said: This spotless son has been restored by the all-powerful and all-pervasive Lord Vi\u1e63\u1e47u, the Personality of Godhead, in order to oblige you. He was saved when he was doomed to be destroyed by an irresistible supernatural weapon.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15963\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/12\/17\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 17:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>For this reason this child will be well known in the world as one who is protected by the Personality of Godhead. O most fortunate one, there is no doubt that this child will become a first-class devotee and will be qualified with all good qualities.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15968\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/12\/18\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 18:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>The good King [Yudhi\u1e63\u1e6dhira] inquired: O great souls, will he become as saintly a king, as pious in his very name and as famous and glorified in his achievements, as others who appeared in this great royal family?<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15973\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/12\/19\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 19:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>The learned br\u0101hma\u1e47as said: O son of P\u1e5bth\u0101, this child shall be exactly like King Ik\u1e63v\u0101ku, son of Manu, in maintaining all those who are born. And as for following the brahminical principles, especially in being true to his promise, he shall be exactly like R\u0101ma, the Personality of Godhead, the son of Mah\u0101r\u0101ja Da\u015baratha.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15982\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/12\/20\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 20:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>This child will be a munificent donor of charity and protector of the surrendered, like the famous King \u015aibi of the U\u015b\u012bnara country. And he will expand the name and fame of his family like Bharata, the son of Mah\u0101r\u0101ja Du\u1e63yanta.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15989\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/12\/21\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 21:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>Amongst great bowmen, this child will be as good as Arjuna. He will be as irresistible as fire and as unsurpassable as the ocean.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb16001\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/12\/22\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 22:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>This child will be as strong as a lion, and as worthy a shelter as the Him\u0101laya Mountains. He will be forbearing like the earth, and as tolerant as his parents.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb16006\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/12\/23\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 23:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>This child will be like his grandfather Yudhi\u1e63\u1e6dhira or Brahm\u0101 in equanimity of mind. He will be munificent like the lord of the Kail\u0101sa Hill, \u015aiva. And he will be the resort of everyone, like the Supreme Personality of Godhead, N\u0101r\u0101ya\u1e47a, who is even the shelter of the goddess of fortune.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb16013\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/12\/24\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 24:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>This child will be almost as good as Lord \u015ar\u012b K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a by following in His footsteps. In magnanimity he will become as great as King Rantideva. And in religion he will be like Mah\u0101r\u0101ja Yay\u0101ti.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb16020\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/12\/25\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 25:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>This child will be like Bali Mah\u0101r\u0101ja in patience, a staunch devotee of Lord K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a like Prahl\u0101da Mah\u0101r\u0101ja, a performer of many a\u015bvamedha [horse] sacrifices and a follower of the old and experienced men.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb16026\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/12\/26\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 26:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>This child will be the father of kings who will be like sages. For world peace and for the sake of religion, he will be the chastiser of the upstarts and the quarrelsome.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb16031\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/12\/27\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 27:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>After hearing about his death, which will be caused by the bite of a snakebird sent by a son of a br\u0101hma\u1e47a, he will get himself freed from all material attachment and surrender unto the Personality of Godhead, taking shelter of Him.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb16036\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/12\/28\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 28:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>After inquiring about proper self-knowledge from the son of Vy\u0101sadeva, who will be a great philosopher, he will renounce all material attachment and achieve a life of fearlessness.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb16042\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/12\/29\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 29:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>Thus those who were expert in astrological knowledge and in performance of the birth ceremony instructed King Yudhi\u1e63\u1e6dhira about the future history of his child. Then, being sumptuously remunerated, they all returned to their respective homes.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb16049\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/12\/30\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 30:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>So his son would become famous in the world as Par\u012bk\u1e63it [examiner] because he would come to examine all human beings in his search after that personality whom he saw before his birth. Thus he would come to constantly contemplate Him.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb16055\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/12\/31\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 31:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>As the moon, in its waxing fortnight, develops day after day, so the royal prince [Par\u012bk\u1e63it] very soon developed luxuriantly under the care and full facilities of his guardian grandfathers.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb16059\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/12\/32\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 32:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>Just at this time, King Yudhi\u1e63\u1e6dhira was considering performing a horse sacrifice to get freed from sins incurred from fighting with kinsmen. But he became anxious to get some wealth, for there were no surplus funds outside of fines and tax collection.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb16064\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/12\/33\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 33:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>Understanding the hearty wishes of the King, his brothers, as advised by the infallible Lord K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a, collected sufficient riches from the north [left by King Marutta].<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb16071\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/12\/34\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 34:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>By those riches, the King could procure the ingredients for three horse sacrifices. Thus the pious King Yudhi\u1e63\u1e6dhira, who was very fearful after the Battle of Kuruk\u1e63etra, pleased Lord Hari, the Personality of Godhead.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb16084\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/12\/35\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 35:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>Lord \u015ar\u012b K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a, the Personality of Godhead, being invited to the sacrifices by Mah\u0101r\u0101ja Yudhi\u1e63\u1e6dhira, saw to it that they were performed by qualified [twice-born] br\u0101hma\u1e47as.
