There, Bh\u012b\u1e63madeva was lying on a bed of arrows, about to pass away.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15181\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/2\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 2:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>At that time all his brothers followed him on beautiful chariots drawn by first-class horses decorated with gold ornaments. With them were Vy\u0101sa and \u1e5b\u1e63is like Dhaumya [the learned priest of the P\u0101\u1e47\u1e0davas] and others.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15185\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/3\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 3:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>O sage amongst the br\u0101hma\u1e47as, Lord \u015ar\u012b K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a, the Personality of Godhead, also followed, seated on a chariot with Arjuna. Thus King Yudhi\u1e63\u1e6dhira appeared very aristocratic, like Kuvera surrounded by his companions [the Guhyakas].<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15190\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/4\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 4:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>Seeing him [Bh\u012b\u1e63ma] lying on the ground, like a demigod fallen from the sky, the P\u0101\u1e47\u1e0dava King Yudhi\u1e63\u1e6dhira, along with his younger brothers and Lord K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a, bowed down before him.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15195\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/5\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 5:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>Just to see the chief of the descendants of King Bharata [Bh\u012b\u1e63ma], all the great souls in the universe, namely the \u1e5b\u1e63is amongst the demigods, br\u0101hma\u1e47as and kings, all situated in the quality of goodness, were assembled there.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15200\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/6-7\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Texts 6-7:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>All the sages like Parvata Muni, N\u0101rada, Dhaumya, Vy\u0101sa the incarnation of God, B\u1e5bhada\u015bva, Bharadv\u0101ja and Para\u015bur\u0101ma and disciples, Vasi\u1e63\u1e6dha, Indrapramada, Trita, G\u1e5btsamada, Asita, Kak\u1e63\u012bv\u0101n, Gautama, Atri, Kau\u015bika and Sudar\u015bana were present.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15223\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/8\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 8:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>And many others like \u015aukadeva Gosv\u0101m\u012b and other purified souls, Ka\u015byapa and \u0100\u1e45girasa and others, all accompanied by their respective disciples, arrived there.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15230\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/9\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 9:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>Bh\u012b\u1e63madeva, who was the best amongst the eight Vasus, received and welcomed all the great and powerful \u1e5b\u1e63is who were assembled there, for he knew perfectly all the religious principles according to time and place.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15235\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/10\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 10:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>Lord \u015ar\u012b K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a is situated in everyone\u2019s heart, yet He manifests His transcendental form by His internal potency. This very Lord was sitting before Bh\u012b\u1e63madeva, and since Bh\u012b\u1e63madeva knew of His glories, he worshiped Him duly.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15240\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/11\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 11:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>The sons of Mah\u0101r\u0101ja P\u0101\u1e47\u1e0du were sitting silently nearby, overtaken with affection for their dying grandfather. Seeing this, Bh\u012b\u1e63madeva congratulated them with feeling. There were tears of ecstasy in his eyes, for he was overwhelmed by love and affection.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15245\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/12\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 12:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>Bh\u012b\u1e63madeva said: Oh, what terrible sufferings and what terrible injustices you good souls suffer for being the sons of religion personified. You did not deserve to remain alive under those tribulations, yet you were protected by the br\u0101hma\u1e47as, God and religion.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15250\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/13\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 13:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>As far as my daughter-in-law Kunt\u012b is concerned, upon the great General P\u0101\u1e47\u1e0du\u2019s death, she became a widow with many children, and therefore she suffered greatly. And when you were grown up she suffered a great deal also because of your actions.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15255\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/14\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 14:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>In my opinion, this is all due to inevitable time, under whose control everyone in every planet is carried, just as the clouds are carried by the wind.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15260\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/15\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 15:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>Oh, how wonderful is the influence of inevitable time! It is irreversible \u2014 otherwise, how can there be reverses in the presence of King Yudhi\u1e63\u1e6dhira, the son of the demigod controlling religion; Bh\u012bma, the great fighter with a club; the great bowman Arjuna with his mighty weapon G\u0101\u1e47\u1e0d\u012bva; and above all, the Lord, the direct well-wisher of the P\u0101\u1e47\u1e0davas?<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15265\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/16\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 16:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>O King, no one can know the plan of the Lord [\u015ar\u012b K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a]. Even though great philosophers inquire exhaustively, they are bewildered.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15270\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/17\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 17:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>O best among the descendants of Bharata [Yudhi\u1e63\u1e6dhira], I maintain, therefore, that all this is within the plan of the Lord. Accepting the inconceivable plan of the Lord, you must follow it. You are now the appointed administrative head, and, my lord, you should now take care of those subjects who are now rendered helpless.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15275\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/18\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 18:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>This \u015ar\u012b K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a is no other than the inconceivable, original Personality of Godhead. He is the first N\u0101r\u0101ya\u1e47a, the supreme enjoyer. But He is moving amongst the descendants of King V\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47i just like one of us, and He is bewildering us with His self-created energy.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15284\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/19\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 19:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>O King, Lord \u015aiva, N\u0101rada the sage amongst the demigods, and Kapila, the incarnation of Godhead, all know very confidentially about His glories through direct contact.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15289\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/20\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 20:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>O King, that personality whom, out of ignorance only, you thought to be your maternal cousin, your very dear friend, well-wisher, counselor, messenger, benefactor, etc., is that very Personality of Godhead \u015ar\u012b K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15294\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/21\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 21:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>Being the Absolute Personality of Godhead, He is present in everyone\u2019s heart. He is equally kind to everyone, and He is free from the false ego of differentiation. Therefore whatever He does is free from material inebriety. He is equibalanced.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15299\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/22\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 22:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>Yet, despite His being equally kind to everyone, He has graciously come before me while I am ending my life, for I am His unflinching servitor.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15306\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/23\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 23:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>The Personality of Godhead, who appears in the mind of the devotee by attentive devotion and meditation and by chanting of the holy name, releases the devotee from the bondage of fruitive activities at the time of his quitting the material body.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15311\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/24\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 24:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>May my Lord, who is four-handed and whose beautifully decorated lotus face, with eyes as red as the rising sun, is smiling, kindly await me at that moment when I quit this material body.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15316\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/25\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 25:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>S\u016bta Gosv\u0101m\u012b said: Mah\u0101r\u0101ja Yudhi\u1e63\u1e6dhira, after hearing Bh\u012b\u1e63madeva speak in that appealing tone, asked him, in the presence of all the great \u1e5b\u1e63is, about the essential principles of various religious duties.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15321\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/26\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 26:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>At Mah\u0101r\u0101ja Yudhi\u1e63\u1e6dhira\u2019s inquiry, Bh\u012b\u1e63madeva first defined all the classifications of castes and orders of life in terms of the individual\u2019s qualifications. Then he systematically, in twofold divisions, described counteraction by detachment and interaction by attachment.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15331\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/27\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 27:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>He then explained, by divisions, acts of charity, the pragmatic activities of a king and activities for salvation. Then he described the duties of women and devotees, both briefly and extensively.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15342\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/28\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 28:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>Then he described the occupational duties of different orders and statuses of life, citing instances from history, for he was himself well acquainted with the truth.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15347\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/29\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 29:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>While Bh\u012b\u1e63madeva was describing occupational duties, the sun\u2019s course ran into the northern hemisphere. This period is desired by mystics who die at their will.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15352\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/30\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 30:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>Thereupon that man who spoke on different subjects with thousands of meanings, and who fought on thousands of battlefields and protected thousands of men, stopped speaking and, being completely freed from all bondage, withdrew his mind from everything else and fixed his wide-open eyes upon the original Personality of Godhead, \u015ar\u012b K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a, who stood before him, four-handed, dressed in yellow garments that glittered and shined.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15369\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/31\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 31:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>By pure meditation, looking at Lord \u015ar\u012b K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a, he at once was freed from all material inauspiciousness and was relieved of all bodily pains caused by the arrow wounds. Thus all the external activities of his senses at once stopped, and he prayed transcendentally to the controller of all living beings while quitting his material body.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15375\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/32\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 32:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>Bh\u012b\u1e63madeva said: Let me now invest my thinking, feeling and willing, which were so long engaged in different subjects and occupational duties, in the all-powerful Lord \u015ar\u012b K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a. He is always self-satisfied, but sometimes, being the leader of the devotees, He enjoys transcendental pleasure by descending to the material world, although from Him only the material world is created.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15380\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/33\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 33:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>\u015ar\u012b K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a is the intimate friend of Arjuna. He has appeared on this earth in His transcendental body, which resembles the bluish color of the tam\u0101la tree. His body attracts everyone in the three planetary systems [upper, middle and lower]. May His glittering yellow dress and His lotus face, covered with paintings of sandalwood pulp, be the object of my attraction, and may I not desire fruitive results.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15385\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/34\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 34:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>On the battlefield [where \u015ar\u012b K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a attended Arjuna out of friendship], the flowing hair of Lord K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a turned ashen due to the dust raised by the hoofs of the horses. And because of His labor, beads of sweat wetted His face. All these decorations, intensified by the wounds dealt by my sharp arrows, were enjoyed by Him. Let my mind thus go unto \u015ar\u012b K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15394\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/35\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 35:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>In obedience to the command of His friend, Lord \u015ar\u012b K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a entered the arena of the Battlefield of Kuruk\u1e63etra between the soldiers of Arjuna and Duryodhana, and while there He shortened the life spans of the opposite party by His merciful glance. This was done simply by His looking at the enemy. Let my mind be fixed upon that K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15400\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/36\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 36:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>When Arjuna was seemingly polluted by ignorance upon observing the soldiers and commanders before him on the battlefield, the Lord eradicated his ignorance by delivering transcendental knowledge. May His lotus feet always remain the object of my attraction.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15405\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/37\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 37:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>Fulfilling my vow and sacrificing His own promise, He got down from the chariot, took up its wheel, and ran towards me hurriedly, just as a lion goes to kill an elephant. He even dropped His outer garment on the way.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<dl id=\"bb15410\" class=\"r r-verse\">\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/vedabase.io\/en\/library\/sb\/1\/9\/38\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Text 38:<\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>May He, Lord \u015ar\u012b K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a, the Personality of Godhead, who awards salvation, be my ultimate destination. On the battlefield He charged me, as if angry because of the wounds dealt by my sharp arrows.
