Many take it for granted without realizing how rare Lord Caitanya\u2019s appearance actually is as He comes once in every day and night of Brahm\u0101. That is once every 1,000th Kali-yuga in the cycle of Maha Yugas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">There are 4 Yugas to a Maha Yuga. Lord Caitanya appears \u201donce\u201d in a Kali-yuga with His Sankirtan Movement out of every one thousand Maha yugas that take 12 hours of Brahma, during the day which is 4 billion 320 million human years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">There are 4,320,000 human years in a Maha Yuga; multiply that by 1,000 (that equals 4 billion 320 million years) then add another 4 billion 320 million years for Brahma\u2019s night of part universal annihilation when he rests, and there is no creation of Yugas during that time of night.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Therefore we can understand that Lord Caitanya\u2019s appearance is very rare as He comes \u201donce\u201d over that enormous period of time of 8 billion 640 million years, which is a \u201dday and night\u201d of Brahma.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Krishna also comes once every 1,000 Maha yugas, which is a day of Brahma and including Brahma\u2019s night of sleeping, called the \u2018Night of Brahma\u2019. That \u201dsleeping time of Brahma\u201d at night is also 4 billion 320 million years, and together with the day-time equals 8 billion 640 million years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Also Lord Krishna appears as His original body just \u201donce\u201d at the end of every 1,000th Dvarpara-yuga, just before Lord Caitanya\u2019s appearance in the 1,000th Kali-yuga.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">In this rare Kali-yuga there is a 10,000 year Golden Age of the Sankirtan Movement of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu, or the congregational chanting of the Hare Krishna Maha mantra. The previous 999 Kali-yugas had no Lord Caitanya or Golden Age of Sankirtan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Lord K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a Himself in His original blackish color does not appear in all the Dv\u0101para-yugas in a day of Brahma either.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Caitanya-caritamrta Madhya 20.337:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">TEXT 337<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">TRANSLATION<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">\u201cIn Dv\u0101para-yuga the Personality of Godhead appears in a blackish hue. He is dressed in yellow, He holds His own weapons, and He is decorated with the Kaustubha jewel and the mark of \u015ar\u012bvatsa. That is how His symptoms are described.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">PURPORT<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">This is a quotation from \u015ar\u012bmad-Bh\u0101gavatam (SB 11.5.27). The \u015by\u0101ma color is not exactly blackish. \u015ar\u012bla Bhaktisiddh\u0101nta Sarasvat\u012b \u1e6ch\u0101kura compares it to the color of the atas\u012b flower.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">It is not that Lord K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a Himself appears in a blackish color in all the Dv\u0101para-yugas. In other Dv\u0101para-yugas, previous to Lord K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a\u2019s appearance, the Supreme Lord appeared in a greenish body by His own personal expansion. This is mentioned in the Vi\u1e63\u1e47u Pur\u0101\u1e47a, Hari-va\u1e41\u015ba and Mah\u0101bh\u0101rata. Some references in sastra also say 8 billion 640 billion while in other places it says 8 billion 600 million, for example.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Bhagavad-gita As It Is \u2013 Preface by Srila Prabhupada:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">\u201dOur only purpose is to present this Bhagavad-g\u012bt\u0101 As It Is in order to guide the conditioned student to the same purpose for which K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a descends to this planet once in a day of Brahm\u0101, or every 8,600,000,000 years\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Caitanya-caritamrta Adi 3.10, Purport:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">\u201cNow is the term of Vaivasvata Manu, during which Lord Caitanya appears. First Lord K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a appears at the close of the Dv\u0101para-yuga of the twenty-eighth divya-yuga, and then Lord Caitanya appears in the Kali-yuga of the same divya-yuga. Lord K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a and Lord Caitanya appear once in each day of Brahm\u0101, or once in fourteen manv-antaras, each of seventy-one divya-yugas in duration.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">From the beginning of Brahm\u0101\u2019s day of 4,320,000,000 years, six Manus appear and disappear before Lord K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a appears. Thus 1,975,320,000 years of the day of Brahm\u0101 elapse before the appearance of Lord K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a. This is an astronomical calculation according to solar years.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Note \u2013 There is also 4,320,000,000 years in Brahma\u2019 inactive sleeping night where there are no cycle of yugas, so a \u201dnight and day\u201d together is 8,640,000,000 earth years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Sometimes one will notice figures in some Purports are a little different from others. For example, here a day and night of Brahma is 8 billion 640 million wher as in the Preface of Bhagavad-gita it says 8 billion 600 million.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Renunciation Through Wisdom 4.5:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">\u201cThe undifferentiated Absolute Truth, the original Supreme Personality, Lord \u015ar\u012b K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a, incarnates in this material world once in every day of Lord Brahm\u0101\u2014that is once every 8,640,000,000 solar years\u2014to shower His mercy upon both His surrendered devotees and the atheistic nondevotees. He protects His devotees and slays the atheistic demons, thus giving the latter troublesome release, so to speak, in impersonal liberation.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Lecture on SB 6.1.3 \u2013 Melbourne, May 22, 1975:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Prabhup\u0101da: Oh. Anyway, I give you the right figure, four million, according to American or English calculation, (laughter) 4,300,000 years and multiply it by one thousand. Then what it comes according to English calculation?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Paramaha\u1e41sa: 4,300,000.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Prabhup\u0101da: That is twelve hours. And add again twelve hours, night. Then eight billion\u2026?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Paramaha\u1e41sa: 600,000,000.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Prabhup\u0101da: So K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a comes after this period. (laughter) In one day, after one day of Brahma, He appears.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Devotee: \u015ar\u012bla Prabhup\u0101da, does Lord Caitanya Mah\u0101prabhu also appear every day of Brahma?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Prabhup\u0101da: Yes, following K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a. K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a comes in the Dv\u0101para-yuga. There are four periods of each yuga: Sattva, Tret\u0101, Dv\u0101para,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Kali. So K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a comes at the end of Dv\u0101para-yuga, and Caitanya Mah\u0101prabhu comes in the Kali-yuga.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">So if one does the math, there are 1,000 Maha-yugas in a day of Brahma, that equals 4 billion 320 million, and there is another 4 billion 320 million years in a night of Brahma where he sleeps and creates no cycle of yugas, adding up to 8 billion 640 million years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">There are 4,320,000 human years in a Maha Yuga.
