Beheja (Govardhana)

posted in: English 0

This place is situated on the Govardhana–Dig road, about six miles from Govardhana. Indra, was an offender of Sri Krishna, yet he kept Surabhi in front of him and shamelessly approached Sri Krishna here to apologise for his offence. The Hindi word for “shameless” is behaya, and therefore this place became known as Beheja (or Bahaj).

One can have darsana of Surya-kunda, Revati-kunda, and the temples of Bihariji and Sri Radha-Kantaji here.

From Beheja, the parikrama proceeds on via Devasirsha and Munisirsha. Two miles west of Beheja is Dig.
