Where is Vrindavan? Where is Javat?
Vrindavan is a town in the Mathura district of UttarPradesh, India. Mathura was where Krishna was born but Vrindavan was the place where Krishna performed many of his early childhood pastimes.
Javat is about three kilometres east of the village of Nanda Gram (Krishna’s residence) in Vraja . This is the place where Srimati Radhika or Radharani performed many confidential pastimes with the Supreme Lord, SriKrishna.
Many of us may be knowing Satyabhama and Rukmini to be the principle wives of SriKrishna. Now who is Srimati Radharani? She is none other than the female counterpart of SriKrishna, the Supreme consort whose sole purpose is to give the ultimate joy to Krishna. Infact all consorts of the Lord are an expansion of Srimati Radharani.
Significance of Javat
Javat is the sasural of Srimati Radharani, where she lived with her “so-called husband” Abhimanyu, his mother Jatila and his sister Kutila. Abhimanyu is the expansion of Krishna’s shadow. This place is very much glorified by the Gaudiya Acaryas Shrila Rupa and Sanatan Goswami because this place facilitates the “Parakiya Rasa” or the mellow of paramour love in the loving pastimes of Shri Shri Radha and Krishna.
The Acharyas explain that how it was Krishna only who married Shrimati Radharani in the form of Abhimanyu. When Lord Brahma stole the calves and the Gopas and put them in mystic slumber for one full year, that time Lord Krishna personally expanded Himself as each and every calf and each and every Gopa, so identically that no one even considered the possibility that there was any difference. At that time He married all the Gopis of Vrindavan who had always wanted Krishna as their husband and in the form of Abhimanyu (one of the Gopas) He married Radharani too. So when Brahma brought back all the calves and all the cowhered boys including Abhimanyu, who was Krishna’s expansion, he understood that his purpose of existence was to increase the excitement of the rasa in the meetings and the separations of Shri Shri Radha and Krishna. As did Jatila her mother-in-law and Kutila her sister-in-law.
The temple we are planning to renovate stands in the middle of the village on top of a hillock and is the original house of Jatila, where Srimati Radharani lived. The main deities are Srimati Radharani and Sri Krishna known as Sri RadhaKanta. To the left are the deities of Jatila, Kutila and Abhimanyu. The temple also houses the shringar gar, bedroom and kitchen of Srimati Radharani at her sasural (in-law’s place). The original temple must be atleast 5000 yrs old. As seen from the photos the temple has cracks running down from top of the building to the bottom and may soon crumble down. Therefore, it requires our urgent attention and needs to be repaired immediately.
